TIMARU CALEDONIAN SPORTS

Consequently there was a large attendance at tho Caledonian shorts, and Caroline Bay was thronged. Unfortunately, light rain came on at 3.30 p.ni., and. continuing for a while, started people for shelter. Tho principal event at the sports to-day was the i:)0vd«. The result was a .surprise, as Ashworlh's previous .performances gave no hint that he possessed such a turn of speed. A. A. Taylor and A. Trembath were starred for the meeting, but the former missed his boat at Sydney, and Tremhalh ran unplaced in two events. P. O'Shea was chief winner in cycling.'
