DEATH FROM DRINKING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Rotorua, January 1. Alfred Brown, formerly a barman, died yesterday in the police cells from tho cf> l'ects of a drinking bout. .The coroner returned a verdict of death from alcoholic poisoniug, "followed by paralysis 'of the hoart. Ho expressed tho opiuion that everything possible- had.been done for deceased. FOUND. IN. AUCKLAND HARBOUR. Auckland, January ]. Tho body of a man, not yet identified, was found in tho harbour yesterday. He was about forty years of ago, and had been in the water for about a fortnight. Later. The body found in the harbour on Sunday morning has been identified as that of Jaa. Kerr, who arrived here on a holiday with his wife on December 23. '■ •
MOTOR SMASH. An accident ■ occurred on Friday on <8 dangerous portion of the East Coast Road (Wairar'apa) bnlween Kahumingi and Biaminertoii. Two motor-cars were conveying a party from a wedding in Masterton, the back car containing the-Misses Speedy (2), a boy, and tho driver. After passiug Urammerton' a wool wagon was ovutakon, and the driver of the second env, in attempting to pats, ran tho wheels of the car into tho water table. In cn-di-avouring to extricate himself ho drove Hie car back too fur, and it fell over the bank, turning completely over. The tadjes wero thrown clear and were not injured, but tho boy and driver sustained serious injuries.
