(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.! Hastings, December 22. Mnlor cycle laces arc to bo held on (.lie Hastings racecourse on Boxing Day. The course, though flat, permits very great speed l>eing attained, aud interesting sport is looked for. An ordination service was conducted in the Hastings Anglican Chureli on Thursday 'morning by tile Bishop of Wniapu. The. candidates wore tho Uevs. Collier and Munro for tho priesthood, and Mr. Noel Kobertslinwc for the diaconate. The Jfev. F. \Y. .Martin, vicar of W'aipukurau, preached. .Several old residents of tho Hastings district have died within tlio last few days. Amongst these, are Mr. Joseph Wall. Mr. AV. J. Scullin, and Mr. John \\\ Stack, all of whom were well and favourably known during their long association with this district. About 200 ladies and gontlemcn supporters entertained Jfr. It. Lan Simson at a social on Thursday night. Mr. F. l'imley presided, and a very pleasant evening was spent.
