PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Petona Boroneh VvOuncil was held last evening. Present* •n e M '¥. ov (Jlr> J> W - Jf'Bwan), Councillors Piper, Trueman, Burridge, Cos, Brocklebsnk, and List. The Hutt Parle Committee applied for tha balance of the promised subsidy (4:65) from the council for the coming year.— Io bo paid. Messrs, Gibun aad Kent wrote drawing the council's attention to the bad state of the pavement around their premises.—Referred to engineer. Mr. T. J\ Martin, the Municipal Association solioitor, wrote in regard to the factory to be erected in Peel Street replacing one destroyed bv fire. The letter was referred back to the solicitor for his interpretation of the by-law governin? the case. Messrs. Brown and Dean, solicitors for the Percy family, wrote informing the council that the natural drainage outlot for the Percy Estate was Moran's Creek. The drainage into the Nelson Street drain was carried out at the request of the council, but as this drain was inadequate they had advised their clients to carry their drains into Moran's Creek.—Referred to the solicitor of the Municipal Association. The Mayor gave notice to move at the next meeting of the council:—"That if the agreement between this council and the other local bodies concerned in the Hutt pipe bridge be binding, the Wellington City Council be called upon to show cause why it has failed to carryout its part of the agreement." Some terms in the agreement, stated the Mayor, should have been carried out by the City Council beforo the plans had been prepared, much less tbe construction proceeded with. The opening of the bridge would be of great convenience to the Pet.one people in giving access to the Unit I'ark. The Wellington Harlxiur Board's offer to pay the council -C 3. r i per annum for the lighting of tho Pefcone pier with a two-jet light was noceptcd.
