CONCERT AT THE MENTAL HOSPITAL.
' ' . > —• — The -patients of the '-Porirua ' Mental Hospital bad 1 a real treat on Thursday evening last, when the .'attendant Msff •of that institution put on another .-of- their-delightfully-arranged entertainments. The programme opened with an overture by the orchestra under the leadership _of Mr. Hrady.'of I'ahautanui. \Miss-X. C'nitor, who possesses a. very fine voice, cave a very fine rendering of "Mid the Hush of.-tho Corn,'' and as an encore piece. "Listening." Miss Castle tansr "The Violin Player" and, "My Curly-headed Dabby", .with nrl'Mio expres.-ion. She was nWy-'assistcii by Mr. F. Symes, violinist. Mrs. M. Barnes was warmly- applauded for ,hei: .recitation "Tv)-Ito which she did full justice, and <is an-encore recited "Lasea.". -Mr. I'. Symes, a clever young vinl ill i>(. cave ii violin solo "I,a Serena I a," to tho great enjoyment- of the audience. Mr. 1!. Pearson gave much pleasure to his. hearers wiih his Ino comic miiii,'" "King. Henry , the Eighth" and "I Said Oh. Oh, Oh." and was equally successful with his clog dancing. 1 "Three for .lack" was admirably sung by Mr. G. Ward, and Mr. K. Barnes received an encore for his .•recitation "Kissing Cup." Mr. C. Morgan's singing of the "Singer wn.s Irish" was greatly enjoyed, lie had to respond to an encore. Messrs. Mauld, Roots, and Tatncll were very amusing with their '.'Mock Ventriloquism." The closing item was Alfred Maltby's side-splitting sketch, "Just .My Luck," which was given h.v tho Mental Hospital Dramatic. Club with great success, keeping the audience thoroughly amused from start, to finish. Those who took part in the performance were: Mrs. Barnes, Miss X. Carter, Miss. Crowley, and Messrs. Barnes, Ward, Lloyd, and Pearson. The piece was well acted, and all the parts well sustained. A feature of l|v-.' performance was the excellent mounting of 1 the piece. Tho programme of. music rendered by the orchestra, during the evening -alr-ci considerably added to the of tho. entertainment. Mr. G. C. Holder was Mage-m.imager during tho evening,, and Miss Mungavin played the accompaniments-
