Pile monthly meeting of tliq Alasterton Horough Council was held last evening, ff 6 i. \ lay ? r P resi(li D£- It. was decided that tenders be called for leasing the Coronatiou Hall in the park from January 3 to March 31. The* council resolved to- forward a letter of sympathy to Councillor Ewington in conncction with the death of his father. _ The now Anglican Church at Knripuni is to bo officially opened to-morrow by tho Ven. Archdeacon Fancourt. A large number of visitors have arrived in town for tho races, which aro to l)o held to-morrow. Tho weather presents > ovary,indication of• being"-find. The tiew grandstand js finished, and everything is in readiness for the meeting. :An organ and choral recital -was given •bjy; St/-Matthew's Choir last night. Sir, F/J. Hunn was conductor, and Mr. H b. presided at the'piano. •Shoanng throughout the* district has been delayed by the variable weather ot the past month, and is uot likely to bo completed until well into tho iNew o,ear, . . ! * :^==
