A settlor decided to como to Auckland for (ho holiday season. His nearest point of departure for this city was To Kuili. As a matter of fact it would have cost him less to have paid full fnre from To Kuiti to Taumaruiiui and to liavo taken out an oxcursion ticket from tho latter place than it actually cost him for tho shorter journey. An instance also came to light to-day showing that holders of return excursion tickets to Auckland from upcountry districts are barred from returning by tho Main Trunk express unless they pay another first-class fare.
