THE FERRY WHARVES.
1 MPIiOVEMENTS AUTHORISED. Improvements to the Wellington Perry wharves, according to a plan submitted by the Engineer, wero authorised by the Harbour Board last night. Tho Engineer's scheme is to lengthen the existing Perry Wharf fiOft., so as to provide berthing spntu for the two largest ferry- steamers without their projecting beyond tho end of the wharf, and to bujld a short wharf about 85 feet long south of the present Perry Wharf, and parallel to it. At this wharf there will be provided berthage accommodation for the Sojioiiii and Knraka Bay boat, mid also for another boat of tho asme size. The entrance to the larger wharf will ho entirely covered by a two-storey building in wood, of plain but elegant design, with a tile roof. On tho wharf level, through the liuilding, there, -will be passageways for passengers, with inward and outward turnstiles, and a ispecial entrance for season-ticket holders. There will also be a cartway, blocked off when not in uso by iron gates, and, also on tho wharf level accommodation is to be made for a change office. Tho upstairs portion of tho building is to bo let to thn Perry Company for offices for a period of five veal's, at an annual venial of JUSoO.
