There was a ki«- crowd present, and the weights wera announced as: Gleoson 10;!:. Clh-.and Wenand 9st. 31b. Wennnd showed more science than his opnonent. but li-a was giving away too much weight, and in the. tenth round his second threw in the towel. Wenand went to tho boards in the eighth round. At tho conclusion of the contest Gkeson stated that he had injured his forearm in ono of the early rounds. Glecsan will meet 'Dick' Cullen shortly for.a purse of ,£225. Mr. J. Cossen is offering ,£2OO for a novice tournament in Perth." Advices from Sydney state that the exNew Zealander, "Dave" Smith, may shortly bo matched against "Jack" Lester, whom M'Vea defeated ten days ago at Brisbane.
