Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—At our weekly sale at Levin oh Friday we had a medium yarding of sheep and a heavy yarding of cattle. Sheep sold at prices in excess of last week's rateu, but cattle were dragging nnd hard to quit. Shorn two-tooth wethers, 9s. to 123. 5d.; four-tooth shorn wethers, 13s. 6d.; mixed fat sheep, 13*3. 10d.; fat ewes, 125.; forward empty ewes, lO.s. 6d.; shorn ewes and lambs, 14s. 3d.; cull ewes, 6s. 6d. to 7s. 6d.; three-year bullocks, £5 2s. 6<i.; 1&uionth steers, £3 7s. fid. to £3 175.; yearlii)2 stccre, £2 15s. 6d.; 18-month empty heifers, £2 55.. £2 12s. 6d., to £2 14s. 6d.; fat cows, £4 lis., £4 155., £5, £5 65, to £5 165.; forward cows, £3 to £4; bulls, £3 15s. to £5 ss. Mr. Newton King's weekly stock report is na follows:—On Friday, May 8, I held a successful salo of pedigree and grade Jerseys on account of Mr. A. llodgkicson, Takaka, Nelson. The cattle were in very fair condition considering the rough trip up and tho driving about. Bidding was keen for all female stock, but the bulls did not meet with much competition. The top price, 65gns., was paid by Mr. 0. Goodson, of Ilawera, for the pedigrea cow "Silver May/' and the cow "Sweet Pea XII" went to tho same purchaeer at 57 ffns. Other prices realised for pedigrees were:—Cows, 26 to 53gns.; two-year heifers, 26igns. to 39?n5.; yearling heifers, 1 16igus. to 28fcgns.; heifer calves, 9 to 13* gus.; bulls, 8 to 19gns.; yearling bulls, 3J Ito 13|tgns.; grade cow?, £8 155.; ! grade heifers, £3 10a. to £9 55.; grade yearling bull,' £2 15s. At Urcnui on Monday I hod a good yarding at my fortnightly rale, and a good attendance of the public. Bidding wa.s best for 18-montbs steers and two-year heifers; 15 to 16-iuonths steers made, £2 16s. 6d. to £2 I 83.: 15 to 18-montiis hsifcrs, grade, £2 12s. to £2 Ms.; a pen of 15-months grade Jersey heif&rs met with very keen competition, and realised £4 12s. 6d.; empty two-year heifere, £4 to £4 6s.j two-year heifers, Holstcins, empty, £4 IBs.; two-year steers, £4 45.; three-year bullocks, £5 195.; store cows, £2 to £2 10s.; forward cows, £3 lis. to £4 63.; swinging cows, £5 16s. to £6; springing heifers, £5 10s. to £6; hulls, £3 18s. to £6 ICe. On Tuesday, in my Stratford springing heifer yards, I had a good entry, but got very little inouiry as most of those offered were backward. Early calvers made £3 to £5 155.: springing cows, £5 to £7. On the same day, at my ordinary Stratford sale, I had a good muster, nnd an improved attendance, notwithstanding the wretched weather; 15 to 18-monthfi steers and heifers met with good competition at the hammer, a.nd sold at better values than at recent sales, Two. pens of good-condition-ed three-year bullocks sold under the hammer, at £6 35.; 15 to 18-months heifers, £2 10s. to £3 ss, 6d.; 15 to 15-months steers, £2 12*. 6d. to £3 3«.; empty two-year heifers, poor, £3 10s.; two-year steers. £4 2s. 6d.; store cows, 31s. 6d. to £2 165.; forward cows, £3 IDs. to £4 ss. 6d.; fat cows, £4 17s. 6d. to £6 35.; fat heifcre, £4 16?.; bulls, £2 to £3; grade Holstein bulls, £4 7s. 6d. to £5. At Stony "River, on Wednesday, I had a srood yarding of good-conditiored cattle. The inquiry was good for 15 to 18months steers nnd heifers, and for twoyear steers. Bidding was also good for store cattle: 15 to 18-months steers, £2 lis. to £3 Os. 6d.j 15 to 18-months heifers, £2 15s. to £3 Br.; 15 to 18-months mixed, £3 On. 6d.; two-year empty heifers, £3 19s. to £4 Is.; two-year steers, £3 14s. to £4 55.; store cows. £2 3s. to £3 155.: forward rowe, £3 17s. to £4 35.; fat cows, £4 15s. to £5 Is.; snrineing cows. £7 55.: springing heifers, £7 155.: bulls, £4 to £7; weancr pigs, 75.; store pigs, 13s.
