Accused was a rather good-looking man of about thirty years of age, and the sub-inspector said that he was a married man, with his wife living in Auckland, but had, by soino means, got introduced to the complainant a young girl from Mount Koskill, and paid court to her. Be had postered her with his attentions, followed her about, and terrorised her with threats lo shoot her and to cut his own throat, lie had also Ixirrowcd money from her. She had been so pestered that sho had gono to the polieo for protection. Tho man said tho girl mot him by appointment made by her when she knew her parents were against it, and he was getting Uie blame. Mr, Cutten Mid arcufcd would bo bound over in two sureties of .£25 each lo bo of good behaviour towards complainant Tor twelve months, and for assault sentenced him to fourteen days irt gaol. J'ho Magistrate remarked that if it were not Ihat. the man was the support; of his wife and family, he, would have got a much longer term of imprisonment. '
