WINTER DAIRY FEEDING.

Reporting under date December 6, Mr. J. E. Scott, secretary of the South Island Dairy Association, accounts for the decrease in butter 'exports by the cold weather and tho fact that very many dairy cattle have come to milking in very poor condition, due to the lack of good winter feeding. Dairy farmers, he adds, will bo wise to see that adequate winter feeding is' provided for dairy cows during the winter off season. Ensilage could, Jlr. Scott considers, I>d used with .advantage in the south as in the north. It may be mentioned that Mr. Dibble, of the Agricultural Department's field staff, is about to leave for the south to undertake certain < experiments with ensilage.
