Canaries utilised at tho Cross Mountain Mine, h.noxville, Tennessee, where over a hundred men aro entombed, showed that deadly gases are strong. A few more bodies luive been recovered. News from Bricenlle states that the fire broke out a second time, and that hope has now been abandoned regarding the remaining miners. Numerous messages are scrawled on the walls of the mine, indicating that tho men are being driven further in because of tho fatal gas. Thirty-eight bodies liayo been found.
