The Navy Department denies a statement by Mr. Brice, ex-United States Consul at Havana, that he warned the Department two days prior to the occurrenco that the battleship Maine (wrecked by an explosion at Havana in 1838) was to l>e destroyed. Officials believe that the full facts of the disaster aro likely never to be disclosed.
