SWIMMING.

ISLAND BAY CLUB. The Island Bar Amateur Swimming Club will open the season on Saturday. In addition to races there is to be a demonstration of life-saving with the reel bv members of tho Maramu Life-saving Club The Wellington Centre ol tho Royal Life-saving Society has arranged for a room in tho Y.M.C.A. Buildings for Friday evening of every week during the season for the purpose of giving instruction to the public in life-saving drill. Tho Wellington centre of the Royal Life-saving Society has appointed nest Wednesday as the nest date for the examination of candidates for tho society s award. The society will at all times appoint examiners to suit candidates. Tho Port Nicholson Yacht Club contemplate arranging a number of amateur swimming and diving events at their side-show on Anniversary Day, whilst the regatta is in progress.
