N.S. WALES STAMP DUTIES.

THE NEW BILL. Br Association-OopjrlE'nt Sydney, December 13. Mr. J. R. Stacey, State Treasurer, in moving the second reading of the Stamp Duties Amendment Bill, announced that it had been decided to modify the schedule by dropping the lieu on wool tax and the taxes on mortgages and overdrafts, because he did not know quite hor they could be enforced. Tho tax on steamer passengers would also bo modified, so as to exempt passengers between ports within tho State. Inter-Stato passengers, however, would pay sixpence on first and threepence on second saloon tickets. Passengers from outside, the Commonwealth would pay half-a-crown and a shilling respectively.
