A somewliat exciting incident was witnessed in tho Gore railway yard yesterdav when a shunting engine was seen rac-in" at tremendous speed towards tlie w<itrr-tank, one of the attached trucks, being on fire. It transpired that the truck contained cases of petrol, ono of which was evidently leaking, and a spark from the engine set the track.afire. At the water-tank tho wivter applied to tlio truck had tho effect only of spreading the flames. These irero ultimately extinguished with shovels of gravel and saiid. Practically no dainago was done, but it tho other" trucks had caught tiro, tliero was a strong possibility of a dangerous explosion.
