The Prime Minister attempted to keep an appointment to address the electors at Stewart Island to-day, but the tug had to be "put back, as had she'continued she might not have been able to return from the island. Sir Joseph Ward addressed the inmates of tho charitablc institution at Lorno Farm in the afternoon, and had a big meeting at Kenniiigtou to-night. He received a good hearing'and cheers. The speech was mostly on familiar lines, contradicting the Reform party's' assertions. Iu answer to a question, Sir Joseph Ward said he was going to have an inquiry mado concerning the expenditure of all public money spent in the electorate, and if the money was spent ■ improperly it would have to be refunded. At the conclusion a vote of thanks and confidence was carried amid cheers. "He's a Jolly Good Fellow" was sung, and two bouquets were presented.
