PETONE TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Retrace Technical School Board was held on Tuesday evening, there being present:— Rev, A. Thomson (chairman), and Messrs. Castle. M'lCen7.ie, Hope, Trueman, Southgate, London, Woods, and Roots.
Reporting to the managers on the work of the school for the year 1911, the director (Mr. Lynskey) reported that steady progress had bpen made throughout the school. The capitation claimed for freeplace pupils hnd gone up 100 per cent, in one year. The progress made by the wcol-sorting class has been very gratifying. The reports from the various instructors were very satisfactory, although in one or two classes the attendance was not so good as jt should be. One hundred and one senior cadets had .been nosted to this school. A beginning had b?tn made in forming a reference library and a museum. ■ Mr.. J. Kingdom presented tho school with 18 bound volumes of a teclmic.nl magazine, "Tho Work." Mr. Burns, at one time an instructor of the mechanical drawing class, has presented the school with a valuable model of a liotchet pump._ All members ,of the Wrd. expressed their gratification at the excellent report submitted bv the director, and,, on the motion of.Mr. Castle,, it was re=olvd that a bonus of «£2O be paid to the director as a slight tangible recognition of his excellent services. The fnllowintr donations were made towards the funds of the school Gear Co.. ,£25; w,!tt. BoTOugh Council, J: 15; Wellington Woollen Co., =£5; Scddon Memorial Fund, Xf Is. 3d. On the motion of Mr. Sonthprate, it was resolved that the director's salary be increased to £15.
