Last night Mr. Guthrio addressed tho electors of tbc Hhvhmi district and met a most enthusiastic reception from a fully representative audience. Mr. Kew, who presided, in introducing tho candidate, added some flattering references to his post career. Mr. Guflirie spoko for over two hours trenchantly dealing with the legislation and administration of the present Government. He also referred to and explained recent legislation that was ol interest to country settlers. After several questions wero asked and answered satisfactorily Mr. Maul moved that a hearty vote of thanks bo accorded tho candidate for his able address and renewed confidence in him as their member Ihis was carried with acclamation. At Pohangma Mr. Gulhrio got a vote or thanks and confidence and the Government a vote of no-confidence.
