EFFECTS OF IMMIGRATION. The preliminary returns of the Canadian Census shows that the population i< 7,1Q0,0W), excluding several of the districts from which returns are not yet complete, but are expected to bring the total up t. o 7,170,000.. This is an increase of 1>710.554 Jh;'.tbe.'.last ten years, but the figures are considerably bslow tho estimate of 8000 - npa'based on the emigration reports, and making allowances for natural- increase of;pophlation. ...
