...THE ICE'CREAM .TROUBLE, A meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council was held last evening. Present: l'he-llayor (Air. 15. P. Buniiy), and Conn-' cillo'rsJJobbs, Stevensoii, Uoots, Kempthorne, Knight, Ball, Hodgins, and Haw-.' thorny. ', ' ' :l'he engineer reported that the sewer, from-. Twomey's Corner to Feist's, was nonr : practically finished. The surfacadrain.at .Silva's had .been put in, the cost to date being M 0 Is: lid. Two conne'etidh's had "been made with ' tho gat -mains, and six with'the water miiins. Three hundred and eighty-seven permits had been issued:under tho'drainsanitary by-laws to date. A deputation of firemen waited upon tho coupsil asking them to take over the custody of the shield won by them nt the.:recent competitions. -The .Mayor, in informing tho deputation that a "resolution- agreeing to the proposal had alreadybeen cot'!»!. congratulated tho firemen on their efficienejr.
