REV. R.S. GRAY'S REJOINDER.
TO CERTAIN BUSINESS MEN,
(By TeleEraph.—Special Correspondent.) Masterton, November 21. At a public meeting, addressed at tho Masterton Town Hall to-night by the Eev. B. S. Gray, of Christchurch, a resolution, alleged to have been pas-ed by business men to tho effect that NoLicenso in Masterton had been a failure, was traversed by the chairman, and tho Rev. Mr. Gray. Tho names of tho persons responsible for tho resolution were read from the platform, and it was asserted that five out of eight of the signatories to the circular containing the resolution were theso of persons interested in the trade.
At ii. meeting of the Masterton Borough Council to-night, the following resolution was carried, nem con:—"That this cauucil emphatically protests against unfaii attempts mad* by a section of tho public (vide "Evening Post" advertisement under date November 2) to damage tho credit of our town, such statements being contrary to fact. Further, we are satisfied that busiuess people rccogniso that, financially and commercially, Masterton never held a firmer position.
