The new green was successfully opened on Saturday afternoon. ' Large entries have been received for the Wanganui Horticultural • Society's spring show. It opens to-morrow, and continues on Thursday; Professor La by, of Victoria College, lectured .to. a large audience at the Wanganui Philosophical Institute last night on university reform. • The proposed liaelihi-Wauganui railway was again discussed Inst .evening by the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce which passed a resolution enlling on the Government ta redeem the promise mado to the member for Wanganui three years ago by Mr. when Minister for Public Works, and to put a survey of the line in hand at once. It was also resolved to write to the .present Minister for Public Works on -the subject. The first company , parade of the Territorials under the new defence system w:is held last evening, when there was an excellent muster of the company (late Wanganui Highlanders). • . . *
