Tho New Zealand Federated Builders' Conference adopted a resolution that tho extra freight on foreign timbers charged on tho Now Zealand railways was not in tho best interests of builders or tlio public, and should be discontinued. After a lengthy debate it was resolved that tho conference approve of the. liidu.*trial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, and iliat tho Court bo amended by tho appointment ot two experts as advisers or bv n representative olectcd for each trade; also Hint tho Act be amended to allow tho term of an award io ho extended to tlio hvo years; and tlint a l P?n l gentleman should l>o chairman of the Court' Tho motion will bo referred 'to tho executive to deliberate on, nnd to consult various associations bofore lor\vardin"tlio recommendations to tho Government It was resolved to liold tlio next 'conference at Duncdin. 0/W were elector]l as follow :-Prosidont, Mr. W.
