ADVENTUROUS MARINER.

A DAEING VOYAGE. Captain J. Nicolaisen, of tho Norwegian barque Triton, at present lying alongside tho Auckland Railway Wharf, is a mariner of tho adventurous type, and at ono time, accompanied _by four companions, ho made a daring voyage from Norway to the Capo of Good Hopo in a 10-ton craft (says tho Auckland "Herald"). Tho little vessel, named tho Rann, was a Norwegian pilot-boat of tho cutter type, with ono mast. Leaving tho Norwegian port of Lillisaud, n voyngo of iivo days brought the adventurers to Dover, England, where they spent a couplo of days. Tho next port of call wus Madeira, whore a few days were snent. As one of the Royal mail steamers of tie Union Castlo lino was at Madeira at tho time, hundreds of people camo to see tno small Norwegian craft. Capo do Vordo Islands wcro next visited. Hero fresh water was taken in, but, owing to a mistako in buying some casks which formerly had wino in them, all tho wator went bad, and could uot bo used. Tho Raua then ran to 13ahia, South America, fourteen days were spent at Bnliia and fresh water was obtained. Tho intrepid adventurers then tried to make tho Islnnd of Ascension, but could not do so, owing to the S.E. trades. Consequently they had to run some 120 miles back to Bahia. Leaving tho South American port, a course was shaped for the Capo of Good Hopo. A strong south-caster was experienced, causing tho adventurers much anxiety. Tho first land touched nt was St. Helena Bay, and from thence Cape Town was eventually reached, after a voyage occupying nearly four months from tho lime tho vessel left Norway. Tho Rana was engaged for sonic timo fishing nt tho Cape, and was afterwards sold, being converted into a cargo-boat.
