Tho Druids' Hall was crowded on. Wednesday night, when Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., opened his campaign in this portion of the electorate. Councillor I'. W. A ; e,gn presided. -Air. Field spoke largely, on the lines of his previous addresses. The earlier portion of his speech was devoted mainly to criticism of his opponents. Ho defended the. Government's policy, and dealt in detail with tho charges of alleged corruption that had been levelled at the Administration. A large number of questions were asked and answered. The candidate admitted that the Government, as far as land tenure was concerned, had no fixed policy. A vote of thanks, moved by Mr. Barclay, and seconded by Mr. Selb.v, was carried on tho voices, an amendment, embodying a vote of confidence, moved by Mr." Murdoch, and seconded by Mr. G.N. Stephenson, being dofeatcd.
Mr. Gibson-Smith will deliver a NoLicense address on Saturday night in front of the post officc.
