SHEARING STATISTICS.
30,(WD SHEEP IX TWO WEEKS BY NINETEEN MEN. Some interesting shearing statistics for the season are to hand from Wagga, New South Wales. At Kimo shed, n«ir Gunclaytii, th(> total' number of sheep put through was 11,000, representing sevon or eight different owners. Nineteen men
wore engaged, the shearing occupied 21 days, and the art mil work 1!) full days. In one week lI,WW sheep were shorn, the highest total for n day being 3170, and i'lio average per mail about 11)0. Among the single day tallies were the following: 255, 230, 22(5, 2;V,1, 211, 201, 213, 181, 17!), I<3, 18(1. 17-1. On that day onlv one man U3!l) shore less than ISO. Over .'IO,OOO sheep wore shorn in two weeks, and !)t bales of wool were cut in one dov. The best lot of wethers cnl Mib. of wool not, and merino ' breeding ewes 'lib. One owner's sheep (1150(1) were put through in five days. No time was lost through wet, weather, with the exception of about four hours. Tho ringer of the shed received a cheqiio for .£.35 Ss. lid. (for 2051 sheep), and the lowest aggregate was 1070, for which the shearer received <£20 os. 10d.—or nearly «C 1 per day gross for the 1 actual working time. This man, how- ! c\er, did not start uufil two days after the man who earned nearly *2 per tiny. The wiwl-presscrs earned nearly ,C(!0. The shearers were of exceptionally'his], average capacity, as the figures quoted show; but they were not all "ringers," and vet none ,of them earned less than ,£1 per day gross for tho actual working period.
