HEAVY SCORING AT GISBORNE. Gisborne, November 9. In the Thursday cricket competition match, concluded to-day, some verv big scores were made. On tho first day United A ran up 377 for four wickets, and to-day were all out for Lyndon being 100 not out. Commencing their innings at 3.30, United B scored 428 for four wickets, and thus secured a two-point win. W. Gibson, one of tho best crickcters in the bay", made 227 not out.
JUNIOR MATCHES. Union v. United—Union, first innings, 85; second innings, 117 0\ illiamson 49,' Wicks 34, Duck, not out, 11). United, first innings, 43; second innings, 35. Bowling for Union, Coleman took 2 wickets for 10 runs; Cohen, one for 6; Bay, two for 4; Wicks, three for 5. Union won by 123 runs. • . Oriental v. Artillery.—Oriental, first innings, 141; sccond innings, 60(Kinucar 24 Marshall, not out, 12). Artillery, first innings, 100 (Slatiery, not out, 10, l'orter 111 Gillespie 18, Richmond 12); second m96 for eight, wickets (Watkins, not out 31, Porter 30, Corlelt 28). Bowling for' \rtillery, l'orter took four wickets for 7 runs, and Kinnear (Oriental), six for 47.
