Ho was a, native of Leeds, and arrived in Nelson in 1851. Mr. Mackay witnessed the signature, and subsequently visited Okarito, finding gold on the beach. He visited Christchureh in 1863, and wrote a letter to tho "Lyttelton Times" which caused a rush (o set in. He afterwards bought 2200 acres in the Little Grey Valley, which he improved and resided on. He visited England in ISSG, and subsequently bought 2000 acres at Pakarao, Hbvcrty Hay, but sold it recently at an enormous profit as vastly improved.
