PROHIBITION IN MAINE.

JT STILL EXISTS. By Tclcfraph—Press Association—Copyricht Boston, November 7. The final figures for ths elections in the State of Maine give a majority of 26 votes for the anti-Prohibitionists. This result does not, however, settle the issuo of Prohibition or otherwise; it merely repeals a constitutional amendment to a legislative enactment, which provided for Prohibition and which was passed before tho constitutional amendment was passed. Prohibition, therefore, still exists, and can only be repealed by a referendum vote. Conserjuently the State remains Prohibitionist.

Tho Governor (Mr. Plaisted) decided on Monday last to accept tho correction of votes by two towns, thus reversing the previous result.
