A QUICK TURN' HOUND. lON 10 SAILS FOlt LONDON. At 5 p.m. on Saturday Hie Shaw, Savill ami Albion Company's 11.M.5. lonic had boon in Now Zealand waters ten day*. During that time Hie whole of her general cargo, consisting of about 85CO tons, was discharged at two polls, namely, Wellington and Lyttelton, and the big steamer loaned up and sent away from Wellington to London. This was indeed a quick turn round, and the view is held by those competent to give an opinion that the performance constitutes a record. In addition to the working of the carpi it has to be borne in mind that the mail steamer had to be attended to by the stewards from stem to stern, for she had carried over 600 passengers for some 45 days at sea. This in itself meant a great deal of work in connection with ship's linen and such like, but, notwithstanding nil the hurry and bustle, the lonic got away for Loudon shortly after 6 p.m., •'looking like a new jnn." This reflects credit upon her officers and men, and shows what can be done in cases of urgency. The lonic is due at Loudon on or about December 16. While she was at Lyttelton the va-sal loaded 27,182 boxes of butter and 4481 easel of cheese. The bulk of this cargo came from the north. On her last voyage Home the lonic, loaded 80,t0fl carcasses of mutton at the southern port, but this time only 181 carcasses were taken. Mr. F. Venn, third officer of the Canopns, left the vessel at Wellington on Saturday. Advice received by the Marine Department from Port Chalmers on Saturday moraine stated that the Amokura had been compelled to riut in there on account of unfa.vour.iblG weather. She is expected to continue her journey to tho Bluff to-day. At 8 p.m. to-day the Government steamer Hinemoa leaves port for northern lighthouses. It is proposed to dispatch the steamer Putiki from Wellington for Wanganui today. She will be followed by the Stormbird to-morrow. This afternoon the Arapawa- is to leave Wellington for Wangauui also. On Wednesday both the To Anau and Corinna are due at Wellington from southern ports. The former leaves for Picton and West Coast ports, and the latter for Nelson, New Plymouth, and Onchunga. They take their departure on the day of their arrival. Having left Wellington for Greymnuth. on Saturday afternoon, the Union Company's Pohcrua is due back on Wednesday. The Komota and Flora- leave here for Westport to-day.
