In a speech at Fremont, Nebraska, Mr. Champ Clark, Speaker of tho United States House of Representatives and leader of tho Democrats, declared that nineteen of tho United States wcro in favour of tho annexation of Canada, 110 added: "I don't care who hears mo say it."
.Mr. Clark challenged President Taft to stand as Presidential candidate) on tho solo question of tho annexation of Canada. If Mr, Taft. agreed lie (Mr. Clark) would guarantee to defeat him.
