THE MAYOR OF WAIHI.
HELD UP BY A DEPUTATION. (By Telegraph-Press Association.) Waihi, November 3. A deputation of business men nndothera waited on the Borough Council with reference to a statement made by the Mayor recently that Waihi had not benefited morally or materially under No-License. Speakers challenged tho Mayor's statement, and urged the council to pass a reGolution contradicting it. The Mayor held to his declaration.
'ilio following resolution was passed:— "Thatthc opinion of the Mayor regarding Waihi under No-License does not represent the opinion of the council, auid that the council considers that No-License in Waihi has not had an injurious effect financially, morally, or socially ou the well-being of tho town."
