AN INSTRUCTIVE EXHIBIT.

An interesting and instructive display was made at the Palmerstoi North Show by the Wellington Meat Export Co., Ltd. A splendid marquee was erected for the exhibit, which comprised a unique collection of wool, pelts, and the innumerable by-products manufactured at the company's works. Sheepskins were shown in various conditions from tho freshlycured pelt to imitations of chamois, morocco, and various other fa.ncy leathers, so like the genuine article as to deceive anybody but an expert. The collection of wool was one of hhc most striking features, and it was displayed to advantage in a large revolving showcase of clever design. Practioally every grade of wool grown in New Zealand was shown in all stages of preparation, from the unscourcd article to the finished product ready for tho weaver's loom. Samples of wool from all parts oi the world were also included in the collection. The display of byproducts was of such a comprehensive nature as to strikingly demonstrate that every particle of either sheep or ox which passes through the modern lre?z:ng works becomes a marketable product. The exhibit as a' whole provided an ocular demonstration of what the freezing industrv has done to enhance the prosperity of the farmers of New Zealaud. It appears tho more remarkable when it is remembered that but a few years ago, comparatively speaking, the only asset which farmers obtained from the surplus stack which they slaughtered each year was the skin and the tallow. Tho exhibit was under the charge of Mr. Gaudar, and the marquee was thronged with interested spectators, to whom the display was quite a revelation.
