ATHLETIC SPORTS.
CRICKET. WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. The Management Committee of tho Wellington Cricket Association met last night. Mr. M. F. Luckio presided, and there were present, also, Messrs. TV. Hood, D. M'Kenzie, J. H. Parker, V. B. Willis, M. J. Crombie, C. Hickey, W. Burbidge, H. Newbiggin, and E. B. Vartce. The City Council advised that they intended to remit «£27, half the rent outstanding for dressing rooms at the Basin Reserve. The association resolved that the allocation of rooms and rent should be referred to tho Ground Committee. Tho Hairke's Bay Association wrote that it was hop?d to send down a team, probably early, but the matter could not be definitely fixed until some little time after the opening of their competitions. The Rivals Club applied for permission to play Saunders in Wednesday cricket. The application was refused. The following were elected a Finance Committee:—Messrs. C. A. Richardson, Wiren, Pearce, George, Hyams, P. P. Webb, M. F. Luckie, and TV. S. Hood. Junior Championship. The following was presented as being tho draw for the second, third, and fourth rounds of tho Junior ChampionshipSecond round, November 5 and 12— South v. Wellington College, College Ground; Central v. Victoria College, Basin No. 4; Catholic Club v. St. Mark's, Kelburne Park; North v. Hutt, Hutt Ground; and Y.M.C.A. v. East, Basin No. 3. Third round, November 19 and 26— Y.M.C.A. v. Hutt, Huit Ground; Central v. South, Basin No. 3; North v. East, Basin No. i; Wellington College v. St. Mark's. College Ground; and Victoria Collego v. Catholic Club, Kelburre Park. Fourth round, December 2 and 9~ Catholic Club v. East, Keliiurne Park; Wellington College v. Y.M.C.A., Wellington College; Hutt v. Victoria College, Hutt; Central v. North, Basin No. 3; and South v. St. Mark's, Basin No. 4. Clubs to Pay Up. Mr. D. M'Kenzie moved that clubs be notified that if their subscriptions are not paid up by next Tuesday they will be disqualified. The motion was carried. Harassing the Groundsman. Tho following letter from J. V. Saunders to the chairman of the Ground Committee was reach-
"It was with great surprise that I heard of the report re coaching the theatrical company, as such a thing is totally untrue. Somo of 'Our Miss Gibbs' theatrical company (referred to) were friends of mine in Melbourne, and all I did was to bowl at a couple of them, which anyone that knows anything about cricket could not construe for coaching. In conclusion, I would like tho committee to ask Mr. Hickey (in fairness to me) why he laid this unjust chargo against mo without any foundation." After some discussion, Mr. Luckio moved that tho urattor should bo allowed to drop. This was agreed to. Wellington South wrote explaining that they wero somewhat embarrassed fina'ncially. They asked if they could bo given any relief. Tho association resolved that it was tiunblo to assist the club in its present difficulty. Mr. Wiliis said that ho intended to give notice of motion for a special meeting to alter Rule 11 so that it would provide that the senior clubs should pay a fee of five guineas, junior clubs thrco guineas, and third-class clubs two guineas, and all other clubs five guineas. Mr. Burbidge indicated that he would give notice of motion to assist South by altering boundaries. M.C.C. TEAM AT FREMANTLE. By TelccraDh—Pres , ; Association--Copyright (Rec.
