POLICE OFFICERS' PAY.
THE NEAY SCALE APPROVED. (By TolccraDh.—Prosa Association.) Auckland, October 31. Sir John Findlay states that Cabinet has approved of a now scale of pay for the police, which provides for the increase of constables' minimum pay to Bs. a day, with increments of Gd. a day every threo years, with a maximum of 9s. 6d. a day; long service constables will rcccivo an additional Cd. a day after fourteen yours,, ami -a further Cd. n day after twenty years. The pay of officers and non-commis-sioncd officers will be considered later.
Sir John Findlay is now considering a system of furnishing officers of tlic force with houses. At the present time i-'ome are renting houses, while others arc living in houses provided by • the State. He proposes to mako the systeju uniform.
