It is not considered that his illness is tenons, lint it is doubtful whether he will be able to go on with his election campaign. Dr. Jl'Gavin was a passenger by tlio Monowai which arrived from the south yesterday morning. Dr. Gieson arrived by the Monowai from the smith yesterday morning. Says our Masterton correspondent:—A number of changes have been made in the managing staff of the New Zealand Loan ami Mercantile* 'Agency Company. Mr. Kitto, of lfawera, succeeds Mr. Baxter, of Napier, who iios been transferred to Christcliurch. Mr. i\ W. Deceased was aged 41. lie had been unwell for the last three weeks, but was thought I'o be convalescent and was in his garden during the morning.—Press Association. At the Wellington Gas Company, Courtenay place, on Saturday, ilr. Georgo Densem, of the Complaint Department, was made tho recipient of a present on the occasion of his leaving t'ho company's service to enter into business 011 his own account. Mr. A. Thomas, foreman of tho department,, tendered Mr. Densem the good wishes of tiie employees, and Mr. Densem suitably responded. Mr. J. Redmond, postmaster at Waverley, has received notice of promotion to tho position of postmaster at To Aro, Wellington.
