————■ —& ■ • I Mr.' Massey, Leader of the Reform party, leaves Wellington this morning for K 1 tliam, where lie will address a meeting to-night. lie will speak at Manaia tomorrow- evening and at different places in his own electorate of Franklin on the last three days of the week. Mr. E. G. B. -Moss, Reform candidate for Parnell, has been obliged to become an inmate, of a private hospital. It is not considered that his illness is tenons, lint it is doubtful whether he will be able to go on with his election campaign. Dr. Jl'Gavin was a passenger by tlio Monowai which arrived from the south yesterday morning. Dr. Gieson arrived by the Monowai from the smith yesterday morning. Says our Masterton correspondent:—A number of changes have been made in the managing staff of the New Zealand Loan ami Mercantile* 'Agency Company. Mr. Kitto, of lfawera, succeeds Mr. Baxter, of Napier, who iios been transferred to Christcliurch. Mr. i\ W. Carey, who has been manager ot the Mast'erlon branch for the last six year?, succeeds Mr. Kitto at Hawera, and .Mr. Spain, of Feilding, succeeds Mr. Carey at Masterton. A private cable message received in Dunedin announces the death at Jlobart of the relict of tlio lato Dr. Caughtrey.— Press Association. Mr. W. 13. Taylor, F.R.C.0., organist at St. Paul's Cathedral, Dunedin, died rather suddenly at mid-day 011 Saturday. Deceased was aged 41. lie had been unwell for the last three weeks, but was thought I'o be convalescent and was in his garden during the morning.—Press Association. At the Wellington Gas Company, Courtenay place, on Saturday, ilr. Georgo Densem, of the Complaint Department, was made tho recipient of a present on the occasion of his leaving t'ho company's service to enter into business 011 his own account. Mr. A. Thomas, foreman of tho department,, tendered Mr. Densem the good wishes of tiie employees, and Mr. Densem suitably responded. Mr. J. Redmond, postmaster at Waverley, has received notice of promotion to tho position of postmaster at To Aro, Wellington.
