CITY LEASEHOLDERS.

ORGANISING FOR PROTECTION. Anothor meeting of those interested fa properties held under lcaso from tho Wellington City Coriwratiou, Harbour Board, Hospital Board, and oilier local bodies and corporations, was held at the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon, Mr. 11. C. Tcwslcy presiding over an attendance of over 40 persons. Subsequently to tho initial meeting held somo days ago tho committee appointed to draft a set of rules had mot and framed tentative regulations, which included tho following suggestions:— "That the objects of the Wellington Leaseholders' Association aro to look after tho lessees' interests and to assist lessees (when required) in arranging terms of leases fair to tho lessee and the lessors. "That ary lessee from the Wellington City Corporation, tho AVellington Uarliou'r Board, tho Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, or any oilier local body or corporation shall be entitled to bo a member of the Wellington Leaseholders' Association on the payment of a subscription of X\ Is. per annum, or such sum as may bo fixed by tho oommilteo from time to time, each lessee who has paid his subscription to have one vote. "Tho secretary, who 6hall also act 60 treasurer, shall be paid such reasonable remuneration for his services as shall bo fixed bv tho committee, and shall, among other things: (a) Obtain as far as possible a list of all tho leaseholders of tho citv of Wellington, and to keep a record of 'tho particulars of same, (b) Collect and record any information which may bo nf importance to lessees. "When the new rental payablo under any member's lease has to lw determined, tho secretary and the comm'itteo may give to tho member such information as thev possess for tlio purpose of assisting suck member in having tho rental payable under his leaso determined. "G-enerally, tho committee shall havo power to do all such things, incidental or eonducivo to tho attainment of tho objects of tho association, as may lie necessary in the interests of its members." It was agreed to leave tho questions of tho appointment of a secretary and tlio rate of subscription to bo levied to tho executive of the association, with a recoinniondation to the effect that for residential leaseholders tho subscrip-. lion should bo 10s. Gd. per annum. Tho following officers wore elected:— President, Mr. H. C. Tewslov; committee, Messrs. F. Dver, L. 0. IT. Tripp, A. IT. Miles, F. Townsend, F. Haybittic, J. B, Ilnrcourt. and S. Kirkcnldie; solicitors, Messrs. Chapman, Skcrrctt, Wylic, and Tripp.
