A Wellington Wedding. A quiet wedding took place vesterday i) hen Miss Ella Rothschild, vounger daußhter of Mr. and Mrs. 1. J." Rotl.selula, of Wellington, was married to Mr. *. Hawthorne I'ope, of Auckland. Tuo bndo wore a pretty frock of blue satin with an overdress of pale pink ninan, iinisliefl wi.h handsomo bead embroideries. I i ceren,on y a reception was held at tile home of her parents, when relatives of both families and a number of mends were_entertained, and the customary healths nomniral. T)i3 table in the dining-room had been prettily decorated with lxias and daffodils, and in the drawing-room all the flowers were white. Mrs. Rothschild wore a frock of black and white ninon, and Mrs. Pone was in a black dress and black hat. Miss Rothschild wore a pretty frock of white embroidered muslin. Among tho guests were Mr. and Mrs. R. Pone, Mr. and Mrs. Morpeth, and Miss Morpeth, Mr. and Mrs. I. l'ope, Mr. and Mrs. Sandsk'in, Miss Hayes, Mr. and Mrs. R. Atkinson, Mr. Lawrie Abrahams (Auckland), tho Mioses Maridcl (2), Mr. and Mrs. Foldi, Miss Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Keeping, Miss Sullivan, Mr. and Mrs. Robieson, and Miss Harris. Tho bride's travelling .costume was a fawn coat, and skirt, nipcyl with cerise, and a fawn hat v.'ith plumes, and cerise trimming. A verv large nunihrr of presents were received by the bride and bridegroom. Wedding at Longburn. A pretty wedding was celebrated at the Longburn Church on Saturday, when Mr. A. H. M. W'right, county engineer, I'ntcn, eldest son of Mr. A. B. Wright, Inspecting Engineer of the Public Works Department, Wellington, was married to .Miss Winifred Gladys Nixon, second daughter of Mr. Ilueh Nixon, of Longburn. Mr. Geo. Wriglit attended his brother a? best man, and Mr. Fernley Wingate was groomsman. Miss Ivy Nixon (sister of the bride) and Miss Edith Drake, of Inglewood (the bride's cousin) were the bridesmaids. The bride wore a handsomo lace robe ovr>r white silk, the corsage trimmed with p<-aTI and silver appliqujd insertion, with tucked chiffon yoke and silver girdle, and the usual veil and orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of asparagus and maidenhair fern and clematis. Miss Ivy Nixon wore a cream frock, trimmed with gold and white wooden beads, and a large heliotrope hat with lancer plume and violets. Miss Edith Drake was in cream striped eoliennc, with tucked net yoke and sleeves, and handsome cream lace on the bodice. She wore a cream crinoline hat, trimmed with lilac flowers. The bridesmaids : both carricd bouquets of lilac.

The church was beautifully decorated with may and arum lilies by friends of the bride. Tho Rev. H. G. Kosher, vicar of Pa-lraerston North, performed tho coremony,. and the brido was given away by her father. The bridegroom presented the chief bridesmaid with a gold bangle, and tho second bridesmaid witli a gold brooch.

A reception was afterwards held at the ! residence of the bride's parents, and the usual toasts were honoured. Mr. and , Mrs. Wright subsequently left by the .New Plymouth mail train for the south, where the honeymoon is to bo spent. The 1 travelling dress was prey tweed, with grey silk sailor collar, and 'she wore a largo bluo liat with pink roses and white lancer plumes. The presents were numerous, one being a handsomely-bound Bible from the vicar, in recognition of Miss Nixon's services as organist at the Longburn Church. Wedding at Napier. In St Augustine's Church, Napier, on jjlonday, Miss Violet Chapman, eldest daughter of Mr. G. Chapman, was married to Mr. Richard Henry Bull, of Napier, the Rev. Canon Tuke officiating. Ihe bride, who was given away by her brother, wore a navy blue travelling costume, with a white crinoline hat, and carried a beautiful bouquet Miss Lilian Chapman, wearing a white frcck and wlute. hat to match, was the bridesmaid, and Air. Henry Bailey best man. The Reward of Enterprise. Some time ago, the active members of the U cllington Choral Society formed Jj lelr jseljes into two teams, the "A" and the 'it team, for tho purpose of entering into a competition to gain fresh members, both active and honorary, the one gaining less members to entertain tho otners at a social evening. Tho "A learn proved to be the successful an d last night the members of the Z team entertained the rest of the society and tne orchestra at a drawingroom evening, held in St. John's Schoolroom, a considerable number of people being present, and a very enjoyable time being spent by everyone. Two competitions which were held afforded a great deal of amusement, one, an mtSors' competition, being won bv Miss Findlayson anrl Mr. Aston, anil the other, a celebrities' competition, by Miss Bennett and Mr. W. li. Caldow. Songs were contributed by Miss Hash' and Mr. Phipps Miss Kennedy played a violin sf-10, and inr. C. Hill a flute soio. The competition prizes wero presented to the fortunate winner?, and a vote of thanks to the "a - team for their hospitalitv was proposed by Mr. Caldow, the chairman of ~e society's committee. Supper brougut a. very pleasant evening to a close.
