Little interest was sbown in tho annual mooting of tho local Lawn Tennis Club, and less than a do7.au members attended. The balanco-sheeC showed an overdraft of some .£2G. The following officers were elected:—President. Mr. W. H. Simcox; vice-presidents, Messrs. M. Simoox and TTartmnnn; comniitteo, Mrs. St. George, Miss O'Rourko, Messrs. Penn, Tahiwi. and Bacclms; secretary (pro torn), Mr. S. Simcox. It was resolved to open the season on Saturday week. It is understood here that settlers who have land adjacent to the Mana.wo.tu railway line, and who hold ■aqrromenls, have received word from (ho Government that their fences will bo repaired for all time Miss Vitilage, who has been connected with tho firm of Messrs. Bills, Moore, and Carpenter, leaves on Saturday for Mastcrton, hnving accepted a position with Mr. Hamil, draper. The Rev. C. Smith and Mrs. Smith have left for Foilding, having exchanged parishes with tho Rev. Mr. Innis Jones lor six weeks.
