Tho following nominations have been received for the Executive Committee of tho Masterton Competitions Society (incorporated) for the ensuing year:—President, Dr. P. E. Cool;; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. W. Robson and C. R. Sykes; treasurer, Mr. M. R. T.irnham; committee, Messrs. G. C. Branson, H. S. Claui'hton,o. N. Cullen, Alex. Donald, I'. J. Hunn, 0. C. Pragnell, Arthur H. Vile, Purcell Webb, E. If. Wilson, and R. J. Young. As tho number of nominations do not exceed tho number of vacancies on tho executive, the above officials will bo duly elected at the an-" nual meeting of the society, to be held on October 31. At ii meeting of the Mastcrton Fire Brigade, held last evening, it was reported that there had been an avera.se attendance of twenty for the past month. Trophies wore presented by Superintendent Jenkins, and lion. Member Baker for a two-men hose and hydrant competition. A heavy mortality amongst lambs is reported from parts of tho Forty-Mile Bush. At the annual meeting of tho Wairarapa Ladies' Swimming Club the report and balance-sheet showed the club to be in a. sound financial condition. The following officers were elecfed for the onsuing year:—President, Mrs. P. R. Cook; vice-presidents, Mesdames N. Beetham, J. F. Maunsell. and J. Casolbenr; secretaries, Misses K. O'Loary and M. Caselberg; General Committee, Mesdames Bunny, Blackmail, Eton, Graham. Henry, Cowie, 0. Cooper, and Kendall, arid Misses Case'berg, Gillespie, Hathaway, and Burnett. Miss K. O'Leary was appointed swimming instructress! Tho new egg-circle recently. formed in Mastcrton has now a membership of tweuty-fivo. Tho first consignment of eggs will bo dispatched to Wellington on Friday. At a meeting last night of tho Wairarapa Athletic Union, it was decided to notify tho Wairarapa Caledonian Society that their programme, as presented, had been approved.
