An earthquake in the Catania district of Sicily, on the seaward slopes of Mount Etna, killed six persons at Jlacchia nnd Santa Venerhia, and fourteen elsewhere. .Fifty persons were injured. The chief shocks wero felt between Giarro and Aci Reale, and numerous farmhouses and villas were razed to the ground. The population vras holiday-making out of doors, otherwise the casualties would have been greater.
