PALMERSTON DAY BY DAY.
(By Telegraph— SDCcial CorrespoudonU Tho Borough Council has ordered a tarring machine, and proposes to tar ail the main thoroughfares in tho town. A narrow escape from a serious accident was witnessed in Main Street last evening, ,a motor-oar colliding with a horse ridden by Mr. W. Moore. The animal was knocked down, but the rider fortunately escaped with a few bruises. Tho Mayor lias suggested to tho Manawatu A. and V. Association that Labour Day should bo observed on 'Teoplo's Day" of the show—November 3. It is probable that the association will take steps to carry out tho suggestion.
