| Australian-New Zealand Wedding, A wedding took place at St. James's Church, King Street, on September 28, when Margaret Constance, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. 6. Douglas, of "Simla," Victoria. Street, Potts Point, was married to Mr. Alfrod Wliyton Staite, of Gisborne, Now Zealand. The ceremony was performed by the Rov. Wentworth Shields, and the brido woro a white silk frock, with lovoly old lace, and carried a loose bunch of arum lilies. Tho bridesmaid was Miss Leila Benson, who woro white voilo and lace. Mr. Allman presided at tho organ. After tho ceremony a reception was held at. the residence of the bride's parents. A Call for Money. To-day the great campaign organised to raise funds 'for tho Hospital commences, and all day long siego will bo laid to tho generosity of tho passers-by in the streets. It is true thero havo been uianr calls upon the purses of Wellington people, but they have never yet failed in responding heartily to the appejU mado to them in tho namo of tho Hospital. A Coming Bazaar. At a well-attended meeting yesterday afternoon of St. Paul's Church Guild an'd Dorcas Society matters in connection with tho coming sale of work were discussed. Mrs. Larnach was in the chair. It was decided to hold tho salo on November 1 and 2. The following will be tho stallholders Produce, Mesdamcs D. Anderson and Sliirtclifl'e; plain and fancy-work, Mesdamcs King and Bridgens, and Miss Morton; sweets, Mrs. C. Riohardson, and Miss Richardson; afternoon tea and cakes, Mosdames Blundcll and Walker; art, Miss Brandon; flowers, Misses Phillips and Chitty; Christmas tree and bran tub, Misses Oswin and Jones; baskets, Mrs. and Miss Mestayei; jumble and book stall, Mesdamcs Warren, Price, and Burton. Contributions to tho various stalls, and gifts of furniture, ornaments, and books whicli people at spring cleaning time are accustomed to turn out for want of room and other reasons will be gratefully received by the stall-holders. The Protection of Women. _ A'; meeting of tho Society for tlio Protection of Women and Children was held yesterday, Mrs. W. A. Evans presiding. Tho season, bo far, has not been favourable, tho rainfall being scanty and tho berries in consequence late. It is likely that the output will bo smaller than tho normal. Tho death is announced at Hokitika of Mrs. E. Barton, mother of Mr. Wm. Bartfn, S.M., at Gisborne. and of Mr, Edward Barton, clerk of the Court at Warganni. The deceased lady had been a ' resident of Hokitika for tho past forty- ' five years. Mrs. Andrews, who has been visiting relatives in the Wairarapa, left for Nel- - sen yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. R.
