(From Our Spcclal Correspondents.] , HASTINGS. indication is not wanting that the annual show of the Hawke's Bay A. and P. Association (to he held next week) will be easily tho best that has' yet - been held in Hawke's Bar. Tho entries total 2213, and they aro thoroughly representative of the whole ot tho island. Horses make a particularly strong section this year, and tho display is exported to equal anything yot seon in tho Dominion. The dairy classes will inoludo Jersey and Holstein exhibitors from the Manawatu district. Tho general arrangements for tho show appear to be very thorough. FEILDING. The third public meeting regarding the Borough Council's electric lighting and power proposals was held on Wednesday night, when it was decided almost unanimously that the ,£IO.OOO scheme of Mr. Geo. Lauchlnn (of the Wellington corporation's staff) should go to a poll. Measles are still claiming numerous victims in and about Feilding. Tho Lytton Street School is now affected, two of its teachers being on the "retired" list. At a. meeting of the committee of the Feeding Athletic Club it was resolved that the club should continue in existence, and it was also decided to hold a fports mooting 011 Boxing Day. OTAKI. On Wednesday evening a "social" was tendered to Miss Jolmsion, who recently sovered her connection with tho Otaki Hailway Post Office. Miss Jobnyton was made the recipient of a purse of sovereigns. Mr. J. G. Poynter made the presentation, Mr. Larkin responding for tho recipient. SHANNON. The Shannon Presbyterian Ladies' Guild intend holding a gift social this month. Mrs. Barton, of Glasgow, delivered a NoLicenso address to the ladies of Shannon on Tuesday afternoon. There was a well-attended meeting of flaxmillers at the Druids' Hall on Saturday afternoon, when certain alleged grievances were ventilated. Mr. R. H. Dalhousie, president of the Manawatu Flax Employees' Union, took tho chair, and Mr. J. Robertson. Labour candidate for the Otaki electorate, delivered an a.ddress to tho assembly. Shannon seems politically to be tho storm-centre of the Otaki electorate. For its size, it is questionable if there is another community in the Dominion that has attracted so many speakers of various shades of opinion. Included amongst those who have addressed local audiences lately have been: Mr. Arthur Wittv. organiser Single Tax League; Mr. F. M. B. Fisher, M.T\, Mr. H. G.
