ANOTHER BLUFF CABLE?

(By Tcleeraph.-Press Association) Dunedin, October 12. The proposal of the Pacific Cablo Board to provido a second cablo'between Australia and Now Zealand was discussed today at a special meeting of tho Dunedin Chamber of Commerce. It was resolved to urge upon the Government tho desirability of laying such a cable from Melbourne to the Bluff, for the following reasons:—"That it would givo the South equally, ready access to the main Pacific cablo as is enjoved by tho North; that it would minimise tho risk of tho South being cut off from tho world when communication with the North Island is interrupted, and that the adoption of the new route would givo greatly increased insurances against tho total Interruption of communication with tho main Pacific cable, and would therefore be a sound measure of public policy."
