■ ♦ FALL FROM A LADDER, (By Tolccraph.—Pros6 Association.) Uuncdin, October 12. An inquest was hold to-day on tho Ijodj of Charles Ayers, who died on Tuesday in consequence 'of injuries received through, falling oft' a ladder in Hudson's biscuit factarj- on September 21. Medical evidence Showed that deceased wade good progress until tho 7th hist. Two days later _ ho was operated on, and complications wore found. The patioait returned to tho ward in a collapsed, condition, and died tho following dav. Tho cause of death mas intestinal obstruction and shock. Other ovidenco showed that deceased tell while replacing a belt on o pulley. Tho third of tho ladder from <he bot. torn had given way on ono side about 2ft Gin. or 3ft. from tho ground. Tho coroner (Mr. Graham) returned a verdict t!hat death was duo to shock from internal injuries received in accidentally falling off a lnddcr, no blame being attachable to anyone. LYSOL POISONING. Auckland, October 12. Mies Fisher, a£out thirty years of age, (warding at Grafton Road, was received in tho hospital this morning suffering from lysol poisoning, and died shortly aftorwArds. DEATH FROM HEART DISEASE. Greymouth, October 12. An inquest was held to-day by the di» trict coroner touching tho death of Jeremiah O'Kecfe, who died suddenly at Ornate on Tuesday. Tho evidence showed that deceased and a companion had participated in a friendly struggle, afterwhich deceased was attacked with a fit of coughing and vomiting. Tho ovidenco of Dj\ Monson, who made a post-mortem examination, was to tho effect that tho heart showed rigns of fatty infiltration,' while the upper part of the body waa greatly congested, and in such a state that any violent exertion would causo death, 'file coroner returned a verdict that death was due to heart disease. Ho was perfectly satisfied thoro was no (rough play. :DIED FROM PNEUMONIA. Dunedln, October 12. An inquest was hold to-day on tho bodj of Jonathan M'Uvoy, who died at Nascby Hospital yesterday morning. Tho evidouoo showed that deceased was a native of Liverpool, where he leaves a wife and sou. He was formerly a master mariner, but had lately been engaged on a sheep station in Olago repairing hor6e-oov«rs and harness. Ho was about 60 years of age, and was addicted to drink. Deceased, had apparently fallen over a six-foot bank, and lain on tho road all nighit. Medical evidence was to tho effect that deceased died from pneumonia aggravated by exposure and drink, and a verdict to that effect was returned. A FALL IN THE STREET. A man named P. Daly was taken to tho hospital last night by tho Lambton Quay pobx», his injuries consisting of a fractured collarlwno and dislocated shoulder, Daly is a farm labourer from Martinborongh, and while walking along tho street slipped off tho curbing and fell on the street, sustaining tho injuries mentioned, WhMo driving an express along Water, 100 Quay yesterday, a man named Peter Roberts was jolted off his scat, and fell heavily to the ground. Ho was badly bruised and ahaken, and was.removed to tho hospital. Roberts resides iu Ghuznoo Street, and is 40 years of age.
