NOTES ON THE RACING. (By Telegraph.—SDocial Corrcsnoadent.) Blenheim, October 12. The Marlborough Racing Club's meeting was concluded in dull weather, and at times light showers fell. The crowd was not so .large as on the first day, but the racing was equally gcod. A complaint by the Auokland jockey, B. Deeley, against another jockey, Meagher, resulted in the latter being fined. Deeley rode another winner to-day, making four at tho meeting, which puts him at thej head of the list of winning horsemen." J. Conquest rode exceptionally well, and saluted the judgo on two occasions. There were several scratchings in tho Maiden Scurry, for which four runners went to tho po6t. Portland Bill, who had Deeley in the saddle, was better backed than Indra, who was making her third appearance at tho meeting. The favourite scon singled himself out from the field, Indra being his nearest attendant. In tho straight tho leader came further away, and won easily. Curio was a bad third. The win of the local horse was popular. Tho limit liotso, Cinderette, who is iin tho same stable as the first day's winner, was made a very warm favourite in tho second trot, and beginning correctly he soon had a commanding lead. The others were not able to rodnco this. The dividend paid was the smallest of tho meeting. Four was again the number of start- 1 ers in the Omaka Hack, and the first three horses were evenly backed, tho winner, Attachment, paying quite a good price. At tho start, Ladrone led from Kopane and Embrocation, with Astonishment three lengths away. Tho Uader hung out very badly, and covered more ground than anything else in the race. Across the bend Deeley got Kopane up on tho inside, and so did Moagher, who followed on Astonishment. This pair then had the race to themselves, and, in a splendid finish, Astonishment won by a very narrow margin. Embrocation, ridden by S. Richards—-an apprentice in V. Cotton's stable—ran well to the turn, where, ho was unfortunate enough to bo carried wide by Ladrone, There was a surprise in tho big event when the little-fancied Hirini went out in front, and, after an exciting finish with Curator, won by a head, Thoro was a mix after passing tho half-mile post, and St. Felix and Beacon wero nearly brought down by CuratoT. Immediately after tho race Deeley, rider of St. Felix, lodged o complaint against Meagher. Tho stewards met, and, after hearing tho evidence of tho other riders, imposed a fine of £2 on Meagher. Portland Lady and Emma carried the bulk of tho public money in the Dash Hack Handicap. The latter drew No. 1 position at the- barrier—a big advantage over this course. Sho jumped out very smartly whilo the favourite failed to get going, and was knocked back. In the straight, Excitement ran up to Emma, but could not sustain his run, and tho Hutt roaro ran on and won comfortably. Katua got up in the last few strides, and beat Excitement for second money. Daunton was the bestbacked mount in the Second Welter Handicap, but he had to go under to Emma, who won he; 1 third race at tho mooting. Katua, coming very fast, cut the favourite out of second money. DUNEDIN J.C. ACCEPTANCES. (By TeleirraDh.-Presß Association.) Dunedin, October 12. That the New Zealand horses have not done reallv well at Randwick this time may bo fortunate for future visitors (save a Sydney writer), inasmuch as our nandicappers may bo disposed to treat them a little more leniently than in the past.
