OLD SOLDIERS' CLAIMS.
INTENTIONS OP TIIE GOVERNMENT. A brief statement regarding the provision which tho Government intends to mako this session for the recognition of services rendered to tho Dominion by the war veterans was made by the Prime Minister in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. Mr. Luke (Wellington Suburbs) asked whether legislation would lie enacted this session to deal with tho matter. Sir Joseph Ward replied that in the ordinary .course all the petitions would come before Cabinet, and they would bo carefully considered with a view to making provision on the Supplementary- Estimates. The Government proposed to deal with those petitions upon which magisterial reports had been obtained, but he could not say whether the Government would go beyond thoso petitions.
